Step By Step Process To Earn Your First $100 Through Freelancing In 15 Days
Before I start the steps, I am sharing this content from my experience and how you could get your client and start earning through freelancing.
When I say freelancing, it is not easy money, it is the start of a business, and only if you are serious about freelancing then only you will see the results. And, I want you to see the results.
There could be two scenarios -
1. Either you are a student and want to start freelancing.
2. Either you have experience as an employee and want to start freelancing.
Both scenarios will need a plan and the questions you need to ask -
1. What is the niche you want to serve?
2. Who will be the target audience?
3. Where does my target audience hang out?
4. Which social media do I have to be active on?
Step 1 — Decide Your Niche -
In freelancing, there are numerous areas where you can provide your freelancing services. As a content writer, I will share examples from my content writing. When I say niche, it means it could be the area you want to serve as a freelancer, either it could be SEO services, content writing, copywriting, designing, etc. Once you decide on your niche, then your step 2 comes into the picture.
Step 2 — Create Your Portfolio -
If you don’t have a portfolio, your prospects may not provide you with work. As a content writer, you can write your content on Medium, the best platform, and share links with your prospects. For different niches, there are various platforms to create portfolios, like Behance for designers.
Step 3 — Reach Out To Your Prospects -
You have decided your niche, target audience and where they spend their most time. For example, you can join content writing groups on Facebook and connect with every international prospect through their posts posted in the content writing groups. Everyone may not reply, but you will surely get a reply if it is personalized and related to their posts. Join 10–15 groups and send 5–10 msgs daily to your relevant target audience.
Step 4 — Ask For Advance Payment -
Even though you hold your portfolio, some may still ask for trial content. It would help if you went with paid sample content. And, No free samples. And if there is a deal between you and your prospect, do ask for advance payment of at least 50%. I got my first two international clients, who paid me 100% in advance.
Step 5 — Personal Branding -
If you have read till step 4, then I am sure you are serious about freelancing. Personal Branding is a long-term game, and the effects you will see after six months. I started my Personal Branding on LinkedIn, and it’s been a year. You can select any social media platform which is favorable for you.
